Quiz of the Day

Orbital Hybridization
  • Hybridization of atomic orbitals is a theory that helps in explaining the molecular geometry and molecules with central atoms that exceed the octet rule.
  • Both bonding pairs and lone pairs of electrons use hybrid orbitals.
  • The type of hybridization on an atom in a molecule is determined by counting the number of other atoms bonded to the atom and the number of lone pairs of electrons.
